BOYS BASKETBALL NEWS

**CHAMPS**


The 8th Grade A team coached by Tom Wiegle won their 4th straight city championship, as they defeated Our Lady of Lourdes.  Ted Sontag's 5th Grade A team won their first championship, defeating St. Antoninus.  And a great year was had by Mel Rodriguez's 4th grade Panthers, as they were defeated in the city championship game by St. Ignatius.

Congratulations to Scott Smith's 8th Grade B team as they defeated St. Jude for their third consecutive title!  The Panthers played before a racous crowd of classmates, schoolmates and families Friday night at St. James.  Thanks to all who attended to make this quite a memorable evening as we again had a great crowd for the four B level championship games.

The C level DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP games were played Friday, March 11th at Our Lady of Victory gym.  The 5th grade Panthers coached by Bob Booth defeated the Panthers coached by Steve Bleh in the first game of the night.  Later that night, the Panthers coached by John DeHaven defeated the Panthers coached by Tom Sweitzer in the 7th grade championship.  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL FOUR TEAMS FOR THE GREAT FINISH TO THEIR SEASONS!

These teams were WBC regular season divisional champions:
4th Grade - Coach Blaine Webb / 5th Grade A - Coach Ted Sontag / 8th Grade B - Coach Scott Smith

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL NEWS

Congratulations to Melissa Taylor's 4th grade team, as they won the championship of the December Team Z tournament. Team Z is a Cincinnati volley ball club that holds a December warm-up tourney for CYO volleyball, grades 3-8 at Xavier University's Schmidt Field house.

 

Congratulations to Rick Groene's 8th Grade team, as they recently won the 2011 Mother of Mercy Volleyball Tournament.  With 22 other teams in the bracket, the Panther girls' bested Our Lady of Lourdes in the championship game!

Last but not least, Congratulations to Susan Wells 7th Grade Team for winning this year's McAuley Tournament.  And to finish off the year, this team won the the CYO end of season league tournament championship!  

Great job girls on these teamas and to the other St James Teams!

Congratulations 3rd Grade Football !

Congrats to the third grade football team for winning the GCYL football championship.  The team capped off an undeafeated season by defeating Our Lady of Victory at St. Xavier High School.
